A Jetstar flight from Bali to Melbourne was forced to turn back after a female passenger attempted to open the plane door midair.

The incident occurred on Monday when the aircraft was cruising at 33,000 feet (9,700 meters) with over 200 passengers on board, The Straits Times reported.

According to flight-tracking website FlightAware, the flight departed Bali at 8:29 p.m. on March 31, made a U-turn, and returned to Bali, arriving at 10:45 p.m.

A video circulating on social media shows a woman at the back of the aircraft managing to lift the door’s handle before a warning signal alerted the crew, as the captain later announced over the plane’s speakers.

The passenger who caused the disruption was escorted off the plane by police in Bali, Australian news channel Sky News reported.

Passengers disturbing aircraft doors made headlines regularly.

In August last year, a passenger on Australian budget carrier Jetstar threw open an emergency door and exited by clambering over the wing and engine after landing in Melbourne.

Another male passenger was also ordered to pay compensation exceeding 700 million won (US$527,300) to Asiana Airlines in May last year for causing a serious disturbance by opening an aircraft door mid-flight.
